Sadly, I was NOT the person from Baltimore County that won the Mega Millions. It just wasn’t meant to be apparently. Sigh. However, my bracket did win for March Madness in my office’s pool this year, so … I’ve got that going for me (dangit, Mister. I keep quoting Caddyshack now!).
However, this week kicked off with some big news that left me with a stupid grin on my face for… well actually it’s still there. We found a house! 🙂 After a walk-through at another house that left us feeling deflated about our prospects and a second walk-through scrapped when we walked by the place to discover it was home to about 8 stray scary looking cats and had a front view of a factory parking lot, we didn’t have high hopes for this third place we checked out. Third time was definitely the charm though.
It’s funny to think I almost didn’t contact the owners. The Craigslist pictures didn’t do it justice at all and the ad listed it as an “available now” and we were hoping for something a little later (luckily they were willing to negotiate). As soon as we walked in the front door, I knew the house was going to be a big contender… if not THE ONE. We decided to submit the application a few hours after the walk-through afraid that if we took the weekend to think it over, somebody else would beat us to it. Seriously. The turnover is terrible in this neighborhood. Sure enough, someone tried to submit an application over the weekend right after us! Phew!
26 days to go until it’s officially OURS (well disregarding the fact that it’s a rental) and we couldn’t be happier!
We’ve already got a long list of things we want to DIY in the new place (although a handful will be subject to our landlord’s approval), so stay tuned for that as well as the big table turned headboard switcheroo I’m currently working on. Here’s a sneak peak of that “little” project and the current state of my living room:
Dude. Sawing through a knot is impossible. It’s no joke! After 20 minutes of getting nowhere through the board and only managing to give myself a hand cramp, I gave up. I think it’s time to invest in a table saw. And boy am I glad to have a basement that I can store my tools in!
