Vision
Curious where we’re going with all of this bathroom stuff?
I started to realize the other day that I hadn’t really shared our vision for the room. I don’t even think it was fully formed until recently anyway, but now that it’s starting to come together, I wanted you to see where we’re headed and where we stand on the whole project.
Thanks to MS Paint and Google Photo Editor (Picnik fans anyone?), I did a little mock-up the other day:
So what’s left after grouting the shower surround?
- Painting - luckily it’s a small bathroom so we can get this done one night after work. We’re going to use some leftover paint our landlord had after painting the bathroom/laundry room in the basement. It’s a little more mint in the picture above than it is in real life. Without it in front of me, I struggled getting the right shade.
- Shelves – we’re having to build new shelves. That’s because we had to add additional framing on the inside of the unit to add support for the cement backer board on that side. So, since we’re having to build new ones anyway, we’re thinking of going thicker. The previous shelves were super thin and bowing under the weight of just two towels. We’re also thinking of staining them rather than painting them to add a little contrast and richness to the room.
What do you think? Starting to see it all come together now?

That’s going to look great!
