How often do you change your air filters?
If you still rent, probably never. I mean… don’t they have maintenance people that do that? But when you’re renting a house, some of the home maintenance is the tenant’s responsibility. One of the things I’m clearly terrible about is remembering to change the air filters in our house. I’m not going to admit when the last time this was done. Seriously. It’s embarrassing.
Last night, while cleaning my workshop, I noticed this on our HVAC unit.
Oh yeah. Those things. I should probably replace that. Especially because it says “30 Days” on it and well it’s been a lot longer than that since it was replaced. Conveniently, there was a stack of new ones sitting right next to it on the left. So I just pulled that bad boy out. Ew nasty.
And put in a new one.
I’m not sure who wrote “16x25x1″ there, but they were wrong. It definitely doesn’t go in any further and the old one was only 20” long. Oh well. It’ll work for now. And these new ones are 3-month filters. So marking my calendar for the beginning of October to replace it again. Here’s to 3 months of breathing better and not breaking our HVAC unit!
