Too soon? OK – so it’s not Christmas yet, but the oh so witty Christmas puns are already starting.
We tackled another boob light removal project this week. I’ve been sick of staring at the atrocious light fixture in our stairwell for far too long. I’d actually bought a replacement fixture from IKEA a couple of months ago and it’s been sitting in the floor of our living room ever since. Call it laziness, but a lot of that delay had to do with the fact that the replacement would involve a longer-than-I’m-comfortable-with period of time up on a ladder at the top of the stairs.
So logically, I chose to finally tackle this project BEFORE the Mister came home from work and could be my spotter. Oh and did I mention the breaker turns off power to the ENTIRE upstairs and it was already dark out? We also don’t own a flashlight. Anywho!
I forgot to take a before picture… Meh, you know what they look like. As for the new one, I chose the ALÄNG drum ceiling light from IKEA ($29). The installation process wasn’t exactly easy, but that’s thanks to the existing hardware and the darkness. My iPhone torch light wouldn’t stay on. There was also a screw that had completely rusted making it nearly impossible to attach the new fixture. A little finagling involved and a conveniently timed arrival of my better half, I managed to get it all hooked up.
Our thoughts? So much better. It just looks more modern and soft without the nasty brass fixture that previously inhabited this space. And I love love love that weaved pattern on the side. We’re fans. 🙂
