If things seem a little slow around here at Post Grad… well that’s probably nothing new. I’m sitting here in my living room staring at the half painted walls, the TV still perched on a garden bench, the paintings and photos still lined up against the wall waiting to be hung, the sewing machine still on my coffee table only a third of the way through my capiz shell chandelier project… and have absolutely no motivation to tackle any of them. But, for once, I actually have an excuse for all of my unfinished projects.
Well as we’ve finally let the cat out of the bag and the reality of the situation is starting to set in, I finally feel as though I can share the exciting news. I’m moving back to the city and moving in with the Mister. It was long discussed and debated – I did JUST move out of the city 3 months ago. But the reality is that I’m hardly ever here and when I am, I don’t want to be. Making this place “my home” didn’t feel right anymore because that left out the most important thing in my life. Cue the “aww.”
Major kudos to this guy for putting up with my camera fiddling for about an hour in the freezing cold. I’d like to thank the person that invented the self-timer.
So we’re officially on the hunt for a new pad – which means I could be packing up and hitting the road again as early as May. Starting to understand my reluctance to finish a project? I’m thinking of stopping the paint project altogether. Paint aint cheap and we could certainly use it at the new place. The capiz shell chandelier? Well while I don’t necessarily feel like everything in the house has to be overly masculine, I also don’t feel like hanging up a frilly light fixture would send the Mister into an ecstatic frenzy. So that project is in limbo. The artwork? In 2 months I’m just going to be filling those holes, but I guess if I’m already going to have to repaint, it wouldn’t be the worst thing ever to hang a few things up in the meantime. I might tackle that one next. And as for the TV stand possibilities, I’ve nixed the “temporary” IKEA idea and have committed to finding the perfect piece of furniture for it to sit on. I’m thinking a mid-century record cabinet.

And in the coming months, I should probably tackle my closet otherwise we’re bound to have a reenactment of “The Good Fight.”
I promise to keep you updated on the house hunting progress and the new projects I start in preparation for the new place. So exciting! 🙂
