We started a new tradition last year of naming our Christmas trees (now let’s see if we can keep it up so I don’t have to change “tradition” to “that weird thing we did back when we were first dating”). Last year was the Mister and my first Christmas together. We bought our tree from a local volunteer fire department and it was b-e-a-utiful! Seeing as he was a Douglas Fir, it only made sense that we would name him Kirk. We loved Kirk so much we kept him around until Valentine’s Day. Yeah we were those people. Sneaking our tree out to my apartment’s dumpster in the middle of the night just so none of the neighbors would have the opportunity to judge me.
This year, we kept things a little simpler. We picked up our tree this weekend from a Home Depot around the corner. So. Cheap. And I have to admit, I love him just as much.
He’s a Fraser Fir, so of course we named him Brendan. We’re really creative when it comes to naming things. Although I feel I should mention I had a dream the other night that we got a Labradoodle and named him Dante, so that’s kind of creative, right? I digress…
This year, having just bought myself a new MacBook Pro for blogging, photo editing, and various other media related interests, I attempted a time-lapse tree decorating video a la Young House Love. So no, I can’t take credit for this fantastic idea. Thanks to Gawker and Mac’s iMovie, it was relatively simple. So without further ado, here’s Brendan. Apologies for the oh-so-stylish ski socks outfit I was rocking. I was cold.
And yes, Aggie loves him. 🙂
