I’ve been inspired. And you know what happens when I get an itch to start a new project! After class today, I hopped in my car and drove straight over to the Habitat for Humanity store in hopes of finding the perfect little neglected piece of furniture that I could refinish and maybe even resell later.
SUCCESS!! I found the most adorable little desk/vanity. A whopping $35. It’s just perfect with lots of details and great shape. It’s certainly beat up and neglected and missing a few handles. I can’t wait to fix her up! Here’s what it looks like (I snagged a picture with my phone right before I bought it):
I’ve been scouring furniture refurbishing websites and blogs in hopes of inspiration, but I’m still not quite sure what I want to do. I’m thinking of a light color paint and then antiquing it. I might even just sand and re-stain the top as I’ve seen some really pretty pieces with stained wood tops and the bottom painted.
The problem? Welll it didn’t fit in my car. It took four of us (me, an old dude, and 2 super cute H4H volunteer boys) twisting and shoving in vain. Alas, they’re holding it for me until I can find a truck or SUV to haul it with. Note to self: next time I get inspiration, pick a small piece.
